Why it matters
The Government of India has warned job seekers about fake overseas offers and overcharging. Some people have been asked for ₹2–5 lakh.
Five warning signs
- Very large fees. Being asked for lakhs of rupees. Government advisories warn of overcharging of ₹2–5 lakh.
- A visit or tourist visa. A real overseas job comes with a work or employment visa, never a visit visa.
- No written contract. You should see a contract with your salary, hours, food and accommodation before you travel.
- Only WhatsApp, no office. Contact only through WhatsApp or social media, with no address you can visit.
- Pressure to pay today. Being told the job will be lost unless you pay immediately.
What a genuine offer looks like
- A written contract first. You read the contract before you travel and can ask us to explain every line.
- A work visa. Your visa is an employment visa arranged by the employer.
- A receipt for any payment. Always ask for a receipt for any money you pay to anyone.
Not sure about an offer? Send it to Advance Vision on WhatsApp and we will tell you what to check.
